As President of the Rotary Club of Hobart I am very proud that our club has been able to donate $11,430 to fully furnish three units the Common Ground Goulburn Street complex.  Our club has recognised the value of this amazing program to our community.  Homelessness is such a complex issue and whilst we recognise that the problem may never be totally solved, we are thrilled to be part of a very positive and dynamic effort to address the situation.

The Rotary Club of Hobart would like to challenge all the service clubs of Hobart and its surrounding suburbs to consider applying some of their fundraising efforts to this project.  By working with Common Ground and the Salvation Army we can treble the value of our dollar donations because it is being effectively targeted to real people, in real need through reputable organisations in a way that we cannot manage as individual, although well meaning, organisations.

Co-operation by all sectors of the community is essential to address the problem of homelessness and to this end we support and salute Common Ground and thank them for the opportunity to allow the Rotary Club of Hobart to participate in this effort.
